REM

AUTUMN/WINTER 2026

On 31. January , the Berlin fashion label STAY AWAY FROM EVIL presented its AW26 collection REM as part of the Berlin Fashion Week. The show by designer Marcel Schiendzielorz took place in the event space of the Backfabrik: CLINKER. Through a spiral staircase bathed in red light and narrow corridors, the spectators entered the basement. REM connects thematically to the previous collection "Inner Child: Playground of Trauma" and also deals with the depths of consciousness. In this collection, the designer subconsciously moves between sleep and paralysis. The kick-off was made by a rapper - with his head down and thoughtful words he sat on stage and initiated the show.

BEHIND "REM"

The REM collection by STAY AWAY FROM EVIL explores sleep as both refuge and armor, transforming softness and vulnerability into protective silhouettes. Voluminous, cocoon-like shapes, heavy cotton, and soft textures evoke comfort and self-care, while raised shoulders, minimal hoods, and elongated sleeves capture gestures of fear and withdrawal. This sense of security is disrupted by distorted, faceless figures in glossy leather and dark fabrics, symbolizing trauma and the paralyzing anxieties that surface from within. Through a trance-like presentation of light, sound, and restrained tones of white, black, and muted hues, the collection becomes an immersive experience—revealing that the greatest battles are often internal, and that true strength lies in embracing vulnerability rather than denying it.
